I need a second opinion....
Re: 2001 Celica GT, manual 5-speed.
Took car to the dealer for a recall on daytime running lights (legally lights too bright, installing a "dimming box".) Dealer did not install correct. Noticed on ride home that dashboard indicated that my high-beams are on (in the lovely un-ignorable neon blue). AND NO DAYTIME LIGHTS.
While waiting for car Dr appt to fix THEIR booboo, noticed intermittent dashboard & other issues-
Tachometer, speedometer, gas gauge, trip-meter, AND odometer (sometimes at 0, sometimes reading correctly) now only work occasionally. And not due to any bumps in the road, it doesn't work as soon as the key is in the ignition.
When I put the car in reverse, my dashboard would politely beep at me. (which it never has done in 5 years)
Took the car to dealer, described issues to them. First question from both the mechanic AND the service advisor "IS IT A 6 SPEED?"
Which lead me to believe that the 6-speed "dimming box" was used instead of the 5-speed style.
Now they are telling me that my intermittent dashboard has nothing to do with the daytime running lights issue that they messed up on originally, and now I'm going to have to shovel out 700 dollars to have the issue fixed.
When you use the wrong cord for the wrong electrical item, do you run the risk of frying computers connected in the system?
Think about that guitar pedal that fried when you plugged into the cord with too much power... that's where I am.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY FEEDBACK OR TID-BITS TO SHARE?
THANK YOU!!
