hi all, i bought an alpine the other day to replace the stock radio. i have a 1990 celica gt with 6 speakers, i was wondering if the tweeters will work once i have all the wires spliced. i've heard from www.installdr.com that some celicas have an internal amp to drive the tweeters depending on how i connect the wires. is this true? can i just use a new deck without another amp to get the tweeters to run? otherwise i'm not going to install the alpine yet and just get an amp. but i would prefer not to to save some money

Good question. I replace my stock radio with the new Pioneer. I believe the the tweeters are connected with the 2 front speakers. I didn't see any extra speakers wire for the tweeters. The tweeters do work by the way in my car. So they are already wired up to the front speakers. Yes they do have a build in internal amp. If you have any more audio questions you can instant message me. I know lots about audio.

cool, thanks wick, so the internal amp isn't driving the tweeters then? i read from installdr that i can 'integrate' my deck with the internal amp by joining two of the wires from the wire harness that i have yet to buy. and it tells me something about a remote wire, blue specifically for the power ant, and the other one that specifically controls the amp. haven't seen the wire harness yet but does it have the two separate blue wires (one solid blue, one with a white stripe) to accomodate the harness from the new deck? sorry for all questions, newb to wiring anything with more than 4 speakers

Sometimes the wires for the power antena might be an odd color like bright orange with a white stripe. Alpine is good usually good about labeling the antena wire in the harness. So you shouldn't have any problems figuring out which wire is which. As far as the tweeter question goes. I don't think you need to worry about the internal amp. Just connect all the speaker wire you find from the stock harness. Everythign should work our fine.
