Shift lock overdrive

I've got a little button labeled shift lock overdrive below the shifter. I'm kinda afraid to push it as it doesn't have a spring so it might get stuck. I'm just wondering what it does. Does it force the car to stay in overdrive? Wouldn't that just be a secondary OD button?

It's actually shift-lock override. What it does is override the shift lock so you dont have to push the brake to shift out of park

so u just hold the button and u can shift from park without the brake depressed?
