Getting to the back and front speakers.

So according to a little research, if I want to swap out the back seat speakers in my celica I need to take out the back seat, and remove both panel thingies on the sides in the back seat. Just to get to a couple little 4 inch speakers. That seems like a huge pain. Can anyone here confirm the pain I'm about to go through and suggest some ways to ease the pain a little?

i managed to find out how to get to the door speakers on my own. Wasn't as bad as I thought.

Now. About the dash speakers. Any idea on how I'd get to them as well?

hey, well as for the back speakers, you just gota grin and bear the pain of taking out the rear interior panels. Now when the panels are completely unswrewed, they will pull out very easily, so if you have to tug on it, there are some screw still in it. There are a couple of screws on the back side of the panel that will be hard to see so dont forget those. The front speakers will require you to remove the clove box assembly and then a little box will be screwed to the glove box that houses the speaker. On the left, the lower plastic piece will need to be removed which is easy and the speaker will be very easy to change. Any more probs or questions just give me a holler.

mykul is right but wrong the rear speaker can be taken out same way he say only if u have the patience to mess with that one screw that u can't really get to without removing the whole panel. now if u do remove the whole panel u won't risk damaging the panel and u can change speakers easy. the front speaker ar the same way, just remove the panel. and about the back seats, you don't have to remove just work around them.

Weird that this was just posted. I have a 92 convertible as well, and I just replaced the rear speakers this weekend. Yeah, you've gotta take out the rear seat bottom, gotta disconnect the folding seatback. Make sure you lift up the side runners before popping the piece out as it's lodged under there. There are two screws on the bottom of the panel against the rear seat bottom, there are three capped screws and two un-capped screws along the back of the panel, there are two screws jammed in around the convertible mechanism that connect to a black arm-like piece of metal which connects to the body near the rear power window. There are the two snap screws for the boot cover, which also connect to that black piece of metal. You can either leave that piece connected to the plastic panel or disconnect the panel from it. Either way, it's just one extra piece to put back together when you're done. There's one last screw in front of the spot where the seatbelt comes out of the panel.

That's all I can remember off hand, but if you need any help with any convertible stuff, let me know. I'm getting quite handy with it.

convertibles need more work than a liftback to get to the speakers, liftbacks all u need to do is pop off the plastic panel, convertibles require takin out the seat, good luck man

I was able to pop out the grill in the rear and take them out from there.. it was actually pretty easy.. The front speakers.. now thats a different story..
Ditto, It takes a funny angle on the screwdriver but its easier than most folks think. If you wanna remove the entire Livesound box, you gotta take out the seats & remove the panels.

I just purchase a 1993 celica GT, top works perfect, but both the rear windows dont work. I took panel off and get power from the switch to motor, all I hear is the motor grunting, but can't see the motor. What is involved in removing the motor? or is there anything else wrong other than the motor. Please let me know. Thanks. Chris
