5th gen swap?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here, but I have a few questions that I would like some answers to and I am having trouble finding them. Basically I'm tired of the boring old 5sfe engine in my 5th gen gts. So I started doing some research and the 3sgte is a fairly easy and very common swap. I would most likely go the 3rd Gen 3sgte route for this swap, but have also read about some 4th Gen swaps. I also am considering a hybrid 5sgte stroker. For all the work and money I would be doing, would I be better off buying an mr2? Or a supra? So basically my options are as follows:
5th gen celica- 3rd Gen 3sgte
5th gen celica- 4th Gen 3sgte
5th gen celica- 5sgte hybrid
Buying an mr2
Buying a supra
Also toyed with the idea of a 1st gen mr2 with a 3sgte?

What's the best engine that came in a mr2? 2nd Gen 3sgte?
Whats the best in a supra?

I have a feeling the supra would be the best but too expensive, the 5th gen 3rd Gen 3sgte would be the most realistic and the 1st gen mr2 would be the coolest.

I would like to do most all the work, nothing crazy custom or machined too much.

II know it's a lot, but pretty much what's the best car/ engine combo? Would love heavy detail and numbers, especially on the 5th gen 3sgte swap, and 1st gen mr2

There's no way I could afford a mkiv supra and I'm pretty sure the mkiii would be outperformed by the other builds. Maybe with swap? I have done no research into supra. Only in my dreams
Also, I will consider any imported engines or hard to find pieces, this build is at least a year away still.

Thats not true in this case Danny. A 3sgte swap 3rd gen will cost about the same as buying an mr2 or supra, but will yeild more then a mr2 or supra. The 3rd gen 3sgte has 200 hp vs the 190 in the 7mge or 155hp from the turbo mr2. He could go for a turbo supra with 220 to 240 hp, but that would cost even more.

A third gen 3sgte is the best bang for the buck. Heck, even a second gen is as its a little cheaper (and what came in that model of alltrac anyway).

The celica is a light car with small light engine. A fifth gen with a third gen 3sgte in it will be faster then the much heavier 7mgte supra turbo.

If price was not a problem, a second or third gen supra with a last gen 2jz-tt with vvt-i is the best followed by either an mr2 spyder with a fully built engine (either 1zz or 2zz) or turbo second gen mr2 with caldina 3sgte.

Or you could stick a camary V6 lump in. very popular engine conversion for the mr2 here in the UK. also a few celica's have had them fitted, the weight of the v6 is about the same as the 3sgte and on the plus side will also mate straight up to the mr2 turbo or celica superstrut lsd box. Am currently in the process of doing this conversion to my 6th gen soft top.
