Greetings everyone, I know when you read the title you probably laughed 'till you fell off your chair.
I mean, every Celica owner I know thinks the 4AFE engine on ST's is lame (reliable though), but let me explain the situation at hand:
I live in Ecuador (Somewhere in South America), we never had access to performance oriented cars until recently. Local Toyota dealers would only import Corollas and Hilux (Tacomas in the U.S.) from Japan and Venezuela, and that was it for Toyota in Ecuador. Some Land Cruisers where brought here if you would pay up-front and waited 5 months.
So, when you wanted a sporty car you would end up with an importer having the car brought to you from Japan. Considering these importers knew almost nothing about the cars they brought, every Celica was said to be a 2.0 liter FWD (for the 5th Gen. even some 5SFE's) and my registration shows this data.
Six months ago I was given 2 choices: $6.000 for an ST (in great condition)or $16.000 for an Alltrac (almost dead, it was falling apart), of course I went for the chepest one, considering a 2005 Celica GT would cost me around $55.000 plus taxes (and we have a lot of taxes), and yes! I'm talking U.S. Dollars.
So I'm the proud owner of a pretty unique car (20 5th Gen. Celicas in the whole country I guess), and it looks really flashy compared to whatever car others might have (nobody sell their Celicas for that reason).
Enough talking crap 'bout my country...
I've been trying to get enough power from my ST to match or beat the GT's here (wich are not properly tuned or mantained, sorry I know it hurts).
I guess this can be done with turbos and other stuff, but I was wondering if you could point me to that "other stuff", should I even consider a turbo? I can't do a 4AGE head swap (it is impossible to find here), 5SFE or 3SGTE engines are also impossible to find (importing one without sensors would cost me like another 5th Gen. Celica ST).
Any ideas, I've done the basics... Air intake, Exhaust headers, CatBack exhaust, Ignition, high flow Cat... I'm looking for another 20hp at least
Any ideas? any help would be really appreciated, thanks
long one to read isn't it?
