<font color='#000000'>I've never posted here before but I am trying to reach out to all the celica message boards I can find for this one.

So over the last few months I've been playing with an idea of having a Celica meet in central California. To my knowledge there has never been one in this area and it's high time we had one, damnit. In fact, I'd like to make this the biggest Celica meet ever. I've got some grand visions of what it could be including:

*car show (best stock and modified for each generation of car and a best overall award)
*live music
*dyno competition (best of each generation and best overall)
*Professionally owned celicas on display (Rod Millen Celica, Turbonectics Celica, etc)
*food from vendors
*Sponsorships from local Toyota dealership etc.
*Raffle
*goody bags of course
*magazine and maybe even television coverage

Also. NO shenanigans! NO burnouts, NO racing, NO disturbingly loud music. It would be really nice to get the positive attention of Toyota to show them the deep appreciate we have for our cars and to perhaps clue them in to why they need to continue the car.

At this point I am shooting for an early August meet. The meet will be at the Earl Warren Showgrounds (http://www.earlwarren.com/) in Santa Barbara (bout 2 hours north of LA). I don't know what the lot will cost or how many cars it will hold but I'd like to see as many as 200 Celica's at this meet people! They have a huge parking lot which will work quite well. To cover the cost of renting the lot (assuming we get a lot of people) admission will be like 10 bucks for people wanting to just chill and hang out and probably 20-25 to enter your car in the car show and/or the dyno challenge. Maybe a discount if you enter both or something. This all needs to be worked out. I have a few friends working with me on this and we might be able to get some good discounts on motels for those of you traveling far. Additionally, any profit will be donated to a charity so give back to your community and come to the meet!

At this point I need to gauge interest to see who would actually be down for this. I am posting this in all the celica message boards I know and would appreciate any responses or suggestions and let me know one of the following answers:

[1]Time to wash the birdcrap off my car! I'll be there!
[2]Sounds fun, I think I might be able to go
[3]No thanks. Im too lazy to drive that far and be a part of celica history.

Thanks,

Adrian Avgerinos

<font color='#FF0000'>the only reason that would bring a tear to my eye is the fact that i wouldnt be able to drive my celica. So im pretty glad i moved away from the ski resorts, tho it probably would have been fun to drive the awd celi around the snow covered fields where i used to ride snowmobiles.... Damn... gonna have to try that one day... doubt i will tho...

ANYWHO! got off topic a bit, i hope this guy comes back soon with more info heh, i wanna know where it is so i can go.</font>

<font color='#8D38C9'>I saw him on the site a few days ago but I guess he was just getting a feel, didn't post...

Black:  Yeah that would be awesome, zipping around awd in the snow!  I love my skiing though, so I don't mind it blowing a bit
And I'm generally not there when the hard winter weather rolls around so I'm alright, or else I'd need a beater for sure!

Eric:  Gotta rep the site!!!  </font>

<font color='#000000'>So theres like 3 people from this site interested? Not real encouraging.

I haven't been getting too much of a response from other sites either though. I think Celica.net got the biggest response so far with like 7 people interested. In totally theres like 20 people that said they will go.

The meet will happen some time. Its starting to look like august might be too soon for a big meet so I might start looking at having one another weekend. Maybe memorial day weekend or some other 3 day weekend. We'll see. Any thoughts?

<font color='#8D38C9'>Yeah, a lot of our members who used to be regular posters have been mia for a while.

I don't know what sites you've been posting on...
http://www.celica.net
http://www.newcelica.org
http://www.everythingcelica.com
http://www.teamcelica.com (mostly Ohio people)
http://www.clubcelica.com
http://strictlycelica.com/forum/index.php
http://teamxtreme.dexthageek.com/ (mostly north easterners I think...)
http://www.northeasterntuners.com/index.php (all types of cars, celica's too)
http://www.6gc.net (6th gen celica's only)

I'm sure there's more out there, those are the ones I know of though.  Hope that helps

If August is too soon, then Memorial day weekend is WAY too soon!
Memorial Day weekend - May 29-June 1
Flag Day weekend - June 12-14
Labor Day weekend - September 4-6 (I might be able to make this one! )
Columbus Day weekend - October 9-11
November 11th is Veteran's Day, but it's a Thursday, I dunno if some places will give Friday off since it's the day before the weekend, but I think November will be too late.</font>

<font color='#000000'>Ok, well, due to the fact that most people agree that August is too soon for a large scale celica meet, and because I have been extremely busy looking for a job(graudating this June. go me), the meet will need to be moved to a later date. Offhand, Im thinking one of the following days:

Labor Day weekend(Sept)
Columbus Day Weekend(Oct)
Thanksgiving Weekend

Any input? I'm mostly concerned with the fact that I havent heard many people from California chime in on this seeing as they are the closest.</font>

I WIN!!!'>Try posting with actual car clubs around the LA County.  I live by LA and we have a lot of modified Celicas.
Either that or you could start off with a small meet and then have the actual meet.
Keep me posted maybe I can help?  :D</font>

<font color='#8D38C9'>I think a lot of people would want to spend Thanksgiving with their families... but i dunno.  Since I'm tight knit with my family I would.

Labor Day would be my choice, but that's just me.  I MIGHT be able to make it, but I'm not %100 sure.  That would be like a 3-4 day drive for me maybe even 5 days, since I'm in NY and I dunno if I'd want to come alone, I'd need to find at least one person to come with me... even it is my brother!!!

Luv:  I'd pick you up if you'd want to come hun

<font color='#FF0000'>well hell, if I'm gonna ride all the way out there with you, Meryem, I might as well drive. It'd be no fun not being able to show off my car too. I'll go if you go.  </font>
