I have a freshly acquired 1999 Celica GT Convertible project car. The plastic hatch release lever is broken off. I don't have the manual yet so I'm asking here. How hard is it to replace the assembly? The fuel door lever is ok. I don't see how it comes out. I would like to replace it but I can't see how to remove it. Any tips? Thanks.

As the diagram below shows, highlighted part number 64606-20171 is the truck opener lever assembly for a 1999 Celica convertible. That same assembly includes the fuel door release lever. It is very easy to replace this item. This same part was on all 1994-1999 Celica models, so relatively easy to find in a salvage yard. If you can't find one, let me know, there are several 6th Gen Celicas in the salvage yard by me.

The 1998 Camry lever has quite the different part number (64606-AA010). But if you can make it work on yours, great. If you find out it doesn't work for you, let me know. I'm going out to the yard tomorrow and won't be going back out again for several months. Just thought if you wanted one out of the same Celica, I could grab it for you. Best of luck.
