I'm not aware of different lifters. Do you mean valve shims or lash caps? Typically I use the valve shims that came on the engine, put everything together and measure the lash. Then you go and purchase the shims that you need. Unless you are building a lot of engines, it isn't very cost effective to have an assortment of every shim on hand and enough of them to do all of the valves. Unfortunately, it just takes longer to assemble a Toyota head in a home garage. You should also be able to use the stock lifters unless you believe they are contaminated with garbage that went through your oiling system.
