Yes I know there’s a plethora of forums, on her regarding the Beams swap. Here are some photos of the engine, no clue as to which one this is. I already have to take out the trans. So How reasonable is this of a project for a college student i have about 2 months and 3k. It’s a 96 if that helps.

I have the take the trans out of my current 94 gt
So you have a 1994 Celica GT with the 2.2L 5S-FE engine & 5-speed manual transmission now, right? And you found a 1996 Celica GT convertible with a 2.0L 3S-GE Red-Top Beams and manual 5-speed transmission in it?

Yes, the 3S & 5S engines are similar enough to have the same transmissions on them. The 3S is built for higher engine speed and lower torque, so the transmission & differential gearing on it's transmission is set for that type of engine. The 5S is built for lower engine speed and higher torque, so the gearing is set for that type of engine in the drivetrain. If this is the swap you want to make, you would also need the ECU and complete engine wiring harness. The engine you are looking at (the 2.0L 3S-GE Red Top Beams) looks like a lot of it's parts are gone (throttle body at least) and it's not clear if some smaller items are missing, wiring cut, hoses removed, etc. That seems like a lot of extra complexity if the only thing you need is to get your shifter cables anchored to the transmission housing (due to the housing anchors being broken). But if you have the time, money, patience, etc., it would be possible.

Thanks for the information. I’d best leave it alone. But I’d be willing to sell it maybe if someone wanted it.
