Hello,

I have an 91 GT and recently the cruise control went out. The CC light turns on with the button, but once to try and set a speed, it wont engage. The light doesn't flash, it just doesn't engage. Ive seen that the most common issue is a speed sensor on the transmission. I saw in another post that there is a speedometer cable for the transmission, and a CC speed sensor separate. Is that true? And does anyone have any part numbers for these? Thanks

Normally, it's the output speed sensor that sits on top of the transmission. The speedometer cable threads into it. There is a flat metal piece piece that joins the internal spinners of both parts so be careful when disassembling.

Before you start throwing parts at it, you might want to diagnose your cruise control system first. There is an excellent procedure in the factory service manual that goes through a good process to zero in on the problem. Do you have a factory service manual for your 91 Celica? Also, what transmission do you have (manual or automatic)?
