ok...

a few ppl recently have mentioned killing 300ZX's

since i am have recently been looking at getting one..... ive just looked at the numbers.

1991 ST184 5sfe
power 100kW
weight 1200kg
10:1 kg:kW

1991 St185 3sgte
power 156kw
weight 1390kg
8.9:1

1991 ZX N/A
power 165kW
weight 1490kg
9:1 kg:kW

1991 ZX TT
power 206kW
weight 1500kg
7.2:1 kg:kW

on paper the NA ZX should nudge out the ST184 and just get beaten by the GT4. all the 0-100km times ive found correspond to that as well.

ST184 - mid 8's
ST185 - low 7's
ZX NA - low 7's
ZX TT - high 5's

if thats the case and ppl are driving stock 5th gens how does it add up ? nissan drivers in autos ? not racing ? suped up celi's ? fishermans tales ?

either that or you guys get different ZX's to those we get/got here ?

this really only interests me as im looking at buying one.

comments anyone ?

it doesn't count if the z doesn't know you're racing him.

and you don't "kill a z" if it's parked in the driveway and you zoom past it.

ralph man, i think you're cool and all... but no

222hp at the crank, dynos say approx 184 at the wheel. never mind that it weighs 600 more pounds, na z's still haul ass. in the quarter they do 15 seconds professionally driven, my roomie does mid 15s. if anybody does the barely winning, it would be the stock z against the gt with intake and exhaust.

see the power/weight dosent add up and the quarter times dont add up either.
on paper the na zx should just be nudged by the st185 and the TT zx should smoke em.

im off to sydney to check out some rides. zx, gt4 and supra, mr2 are all on the list so ill see how we go

i beat one, but just on a turn, a pretty big turn, and as everyone knows fwd cars usually have an advantage on a turn unless he starts to drift it then im screwed lol but right after the turn he smoked me in the straight away, i couldnt catch up, but at least i know he couldnt catch up in the turn

drifting's for looks and controlled sliding, it's better to stick to the road if you're racing. unless you've got good wraps, you'll slide out too easily in a fwd around turns

ok my mind is made up. 300zx twin turbo it is.

was in sydney yesterday checking out new rides. checked out this nice zx twin turbo, 2 seater imacculate leather work, absolute minter, had aftermarket computer and exhaust and danm, it scared the #### outa me

there was a tiny bit of water on the road going in thrid about 3000rpm give it a good squirt on the loud pedal and the back end slipped. after that my celi seems so slow.

the decisions made.

oh and the supra would be good but the NA supra is almost as much as the TT zx to insure and the TT supra is just insane to insure.

the choise between the st185 and the z32 has been made simply casue the st185 got up and went. was snappy point to point but it didnt scare me. the z32 quite simply scared me.

ive drifted my celica... pretty damn good too... it was in the rain though but thats ok because i got it on tape and for a fwd car it doesnt look that bad cept i had to adapt to pulling the e-brake and mashin the gas and getting that thing sideways, drifting is the hardest thing to do and the most fun, id rather go out and have a drift competition then race but thats my own opinion

not really.. everything seems to slow down with me, im very calm and it just seems slow and then when u get out its fast lol.. its not like that with my friend though, he says its all fast, but once i get the car sideways it feels like gliding(in the rain) and everything is fine, i know what to do to keep it from losing control
