Hi i have 2004 Toyota Celica GT. When i start the car there is always gas smell coming out of the exhaust. The mechanician checked my car he told me there is no serious problem. And he told me theres no leak or cracks. I've check it myself and didnt find leak. Why there's gas smell?
How many miles is on the car?
Any CELs show up in scanner?
What were the last major tune up, mods or repairs?
Buy a $20 engine scanner from Walmart. the scanner codes will really help save a lot of time and money in finding and fixing problems.
Gasoline smell at the rear of the car most time means problems with the EVAP system, usually the charcoal canister is broken, unable to hold fuel vapor from the gas tank, so it releases gas fume outside. Scanner will show codes P0440 0441 0446 ect
Diagnosing and successfully repairing evaporative emissions, or EVAP, system codes can be a challenge. Leak criterion has gotten smaller, so even a pinhole in a line can be enough...
Does your engine bay smell like gas? EVAP leak codes keeping you from passing a smog test? You may have a faulty charcoal canister.

A new OEM charcoal canister will cost $500-600 at dealer. Try to find the OEM that produce canister for Toyota, Denso and Dorman may be the OEM brands, or buy an used canister, should cost about $100.
