Hey guys, I was at an auto body shop and they said get an cold air in take. and install it.

so i saw some videos on youtube. and it seems very easy to install by yourself, so i think ill do that. in any case, I have a 2001 GT with a magna flow exhaust and i was hoping to get a cold air in take this week and set it all up. so form all the pro's who know there stuff about cold air intakes and what's the best one please help.

And if you could a site from where you go it?

the best one is the stock one in your car!! and why would they suggest u get a intake? Were they just trying to get you to spend money? CAI or Ram are pretty useless in less your car really needs all that air or is tuned for it.. Your gonna end up using more gas just so you can hear that deeper sound.. (Flooring it lol). And a name brand CAI will cost you 130 to 250 bucks.. I got one my self and thinking about taking it out specially in the 5th gen a short ram intake is just a heat soaker CAI is much better. I wonder if buying a performance chip would be a better start for you?

Well i told him i wanted to get some sick mods for my 01 celica, he said why not go with a cold air intake. he said its good on gas and it will make you're car sound much nicer than it does now

A performance chip..? Im not very good with cars so im slowly learning. and a performance chip does what?

Intakes are in no way good on gas lol... it sure will make your car sound a lil better...
Your basic mods are headers exhaust and intake and weight reduction... After that you better know what your doing and have the cash to spend it. Personally intakes are over rated just a ricer thing if your not boosting but if you got the money get the intake or some headers.. Lighter rims can help also.. Injen or AEM are good intakes fyi they all pretty much do the same thing. Your just paying for the name and how cool it looks..

^^ actually it is supposed to be better for gas mileage. Do not get a performance chip.They do not work.

For an intake you can get them from anywhere. Brand names will cost more but will be easier to install and work much better although for the gains they provide you is not worth the money to some people. AEM, Injen or K&N are all good brands.

for a 7th gen get injen cai

injen is great for top end. dont waste your money on a stupid chip. get a pfc. you can have the pfc tuned. trust me, you will notice the difference in a 7th gen


but if your lookin for louder sound, just remove the butterfly on your stock air box. boom! instant loudness

Sounds pretty good, I'll start looking for an Injen CAI. I asked a couple ppl who know somethings about cars and told me cold air in take and short ram intake are the exact same, its just the length that's different..which sounds stupid cuz the CAI is more expensive than Short ram in take.

My cousin has an RSX type S and man his sounds so nice when he down gears and speeds up, I have a magnaflow exhaust but doesn't sound anything like his. What's the best way to make my car sound much better than it does now?

ITS called a FREEmod bro. should take you about a half hour. remove the butterfly from the stock air box. your gonna love the sound

its as follows

1) Ok first thing you need to do when

taking out the butterfly valve is to unhook the negative

battery terminal. I like to wrap something around the

cable so it can't make contact with any metal by

mistake!! 2) Unplug the Mass air sensor wiring

first that is on the top of the air box towards the

intake tube. See diagram. 3) Pull the large and small vacuum hoses

off of top of air box to (see diagram). 4) Slide sensor off of air box that has

two vacuum hoses and wiring attached to it. See diagram.

(the two hoses and wire can be taken off to leave sensor

attached to top section of the airbox also.) 5) Loosen the clamp that is around the

intake hose and attaches to the air box. (Phillips

screwdriver) push the intake tube towards the back of the

car to slide tube off. 6) Release clamps from the top of the

air box that are shown in the diagram. 7) You should now be able to lift the

top of the air box by gently working it off towards the

back of the car. (there are groves on the front that it

rest in) 8) Take out the air filter. 9) Pull off the hose that is attached to

the butterfly valve and plug the end of the hose up! 10) Slide the Butterfly valve straight

up. It has two clips on the bottom (can be reached by

hand under bottom of intake) that need moved slightly to

allow the butterfly to come loose. 11) Place the butterfly hose back in the

same slot that it came out of. As to not interfere with

other moving parts of the motor. 12) Place Air filter back in air box. 13) Place top half of air box in proper

position. Make sure no wires, hoses, or clamps are stuck

in between top and bottom halves. This may take a few

moments to slide air box in proper location. Makes sure

it is sitting in slots towards the front of the air box

before going further. 14) Re-clamp the top of the box, with

the three clamps. 15) Reattach large hose and small hose

to air box. 16) Slide vacuum sensor with the Hoses

and wiring attached to in back into the original slot. 17) Reattach the intake tube to the air

box and refasten hose clamp. 18) Reattach the Mass airflow wiring to

the Mass air flow meter. Note: My self or Newcelica.org are not

responsible for damaged, lost, or misplaced parts, and/or

incorrectly following steps. If you are unfamiliar with

engines or are not mechanically inclined I suggest you

get help from someone with prior experience or better yet

a professional. If you have worked on engines and or

familiar with working on engines then you show have no

problems. This guide is designed to help someone easily

find key areas and parts too aid in the removal of the

"butterfly" valve. If we in anyway can improve

this handy, "printer friendly" guide please

i did mine and it sounds good.

i wanted a cai but i didnt wanna spend the money and for the little power it give you it wasnt worth it to me.

so i did the bfv mod and i love the way it sounds exactly what i wanted. and i dont have to worried about hydrolocking my car with a cai

both deeper and louder. i pulled up to my buddys right after i did it and he freaked cause he thought i got a cai but i tricked him lol

and its not complicated. i am no where near a mechanic and i did it lol took me about an hour cause i had to pay attention to what i was doing and wehre things went but its really easy.

very interested in this procedure. will it throw any emissions codes and still pass inspection? im sure those are dumb questions if i actually knew what it was

mine didnt throw any codes. just take off your negative terminal for the batter and put it back on when your done. ive had mine off for like 2000 miles and no codes. and your not changing anything but letting a little more air in and taking the quite out of the stock air intake

i didnt see any. i dont think it changed anything beside the sound of the intake. i didnt see any change what so ever. just better sound. i felt like it was faster lol but thats just mind over matter i do believe. but it could be i really dont know

I tried removing it the plastic around it, i undid all the clamps, and it was stuck, Knowing me i would probably break it so i think its safe to say that i will be ordering a cold air in take from Injen and hoping to get a blitz supercharger in a couple of months!
