Question 1981 Celica Silhouette (canada) 10th anniversary edition

Hi folks, found this website while I was hunting for pictures of my first car that I bought used in 1984. It was a 1981 Celica Silhouette 10th anniversay edition. Colour was dark Charcoal, had a white interior, steel sliding sunroof, supra stereo, and the brushed aluminum B-pillar said Silhouette on it. Also had factory aluminum wheels.

For the life of me I can't find anything about this car anywhere. Does anyone have any info on it? Was it limited to Canada only?

Thanks in advance!

The only 10th anniversary edition that I know about was the 1981 GTA.

Thanks!
I had seen that in my search, but the silhouette was a liftback, 5 dpeed, and white vinyl interior. The aluminum wheels were like a 5 spoke design. Same stereo though, LOL those pics bring back some memories. I'm going to have to try and find some old film pic's of it. I'm sure they must be around somewhere.

Default 1980 gt usgp

This is the only other Celica that was different, 1980 GT USGP. I have one in blue. They only made this one in 1980.

Thatís the car, except as I said the color. Same interior, as I said before the B pillar was a brushed aluminum cap and said Celica with Silhouette under it. Also that brushed aluminum cap transitioned across the roof, at least from what I can remember. Also I think under the door edge guard moulding there were like 10 or so pin stripes of varying thicknesses with a symbol of a swan just behind the door.

I bet that Toyota didn't sell all the USGP cars and decided to get rid of those parts in Canada. Just used a different colour paint and badges and they were done.

Hey. I had one of these. Purchased it in Newfoundland new in April 1981 for $10,228.00 plus tax. Loved this car. wrapped it around a pole a few months later. The road was wet and it is extremely light on the back. Fishtailed when stopping for a yellow/red light on wet pavement. It was my first standard shift, so that had something to do with it. Send me your email address and I will send you a couple of pictures. FYI this was only sold in Canada and there were only 500. The US also had a 10th anniversary edition, however it was not a liftback - it was called a Sunchaser.

I just bought this car a few months ago, still have it, not looking to sell it, unless you give me a handsome offer. It's technically my second car however I didn't insure my first car or drive it much for that matter so i guess this may as well be considered my first car, however that's besides the point. Am looking to do much work to this car, should be a wicked head turner in my opinion. Love the car, haven't even put it on the road yet however. Looking for a brake kit before doing so as my current brakes are really worn down. Anyhow I'll keep this spiel to a minimum. Can send pics if you need.

I would like to discuss the 1981 Toyota Celica GT Liftback 10th Anniversary edition Silhouette sold in Canada. Charcoal Grey - Brushed aluminum B Pillar extending across roof - 500 produced - manual sunroof - white vinyl seats and doors - 5 speed.

Can discuss on this site or [email protected]
