HI i have a 1995 toyota celica gt 2.2 5sfe engine manual 5 speed. ive been looking for the speed sensor to replace it because the speedometer no long works as well as the odometer. Im pretty sure its on the transaxle but im not sure. if someone could send me a photo or a text telling me where to find it that would be great. ive looked all of the internet and cant find any info on it. thanks for any help you can give.
I don't have a picture of it but the location map in my book says it is on the top or back side of the transmission around the middle of the transmission. My guess is it is on the output shaft so it would be down in the area where the half shafts come out. You are looking for a three pin connector with Rd/Blue, Gr, and Blu/Blk. The Red/Blue wire should have 12v on it. It comes from the 10amp fuse. The trick is figuring out if the issue is the sensor, wiring, or the gauge. You can try back probing the sensor on the grey and blue/blk wires and use the AC voltage setting on the DVOM and drive around with it taped to the windshield. That will tell you if it is the sensor if the signal changes with speed. I guess you can also jack it up and do a Ferris Bueller on it to see if it moves when the wheels are turning. Also make sure there is 12v at the sensor. Good Luck.
