Hey guys, I have a 1990 celica gt. My car had a rough idle, so I took it to a mechanic, at a retail store called Canadian Tire. They said it needed a tune-up and the cam cover gasket was leaking. So I told them to tune it up, and install a new cam cover gasket.

Now the idle seems even rougher. I went back to them the very next day, and explained the problem, but they said they'll charge me more money to diagnose the problem.

Could the mechanic have done something wrong when he was working on my car, like install wrong spark plugs, or connect the spark plug cables in the wrong sequence, or is the problem something else. How about the cam cover gasket, could he have installed it wrong, that could cause the rough idle to get worsed. If someone knows anything, let me know, cause I wanna get it fixed ASAP.

And ask to speak to the manager -- you paid them to fix it, they didn't hold up their end of the bargain, and now they want more money to fix the problem they were already paid to fix and instead made worse? I don't think so.

i agree with glacobar. on your invoice they should have put a description of your problem. and if they charged you to fix it and didn't then they have to fix it or give you refund. don't let this settle cause if you wait even till wed or thurs they will not feel like helping you.

Yeah, I'm gone go talk to someone in charge, because the mechanic seems to be talking alot of gibberish, and trying sell me new parts. On the day I went back, he wanted me to buy new ignition cables, and pay another hour's worth of labour to diagnose the problem. Tha's ridiculous, he doesn't fix the problem the first time, and wants more money to fix it the second time.
