Default Emissions fail!

Hi there I have a Celica 190 2zzge , and am having serious problems getting it through the uk emissions test , so far I have changed the maf sensor , 02 sensor , water temp sensor , cleaned the idle control valve , and changed the catalyst , all parts are brand new , I had the car plugged in to a diagnostic test which showed no engine fault codes however the car is definataly running rich , the car does not use any oil , and runs well although it is slightly hesitant at times and the fuel pump continues pumping after the engine is switched of until I turn the the ignition on and of again . I'm thinking perhaps I should get the injectors checked or maybe my ecu is faulty , any help would be appreciated as I have already spent a small fortune trying to correct it , cheers

I would definitely check our your fuel issue. Running rich will fail you. I would also check your cat, and also make sure your car is fully warmed up! I've had mechanics tell me to drive around for 30 minutes prior to testing to make sure your cat is fully heated up

Yea in the states you can jump the timing. As of 2013 in CA they check your timing before the smog test

Run some Seafoam through your intake and in in your tank and then go to a Napa auto parts store if you have them and pick up a bottle of cat cleaner...good luck!!!

Ok that all sounds wise however the car has a brand new type approved cat. Although I have now found one of the plugs that feeds to the ecu has over heated and there are bare cables touching ! I am going to recoat the wires . Would this suggest the ecu may have been damaged due to crossed wires , cheers
