I just did an engine swap on my first Celica. Everything is back together and it runs perfect..........except I cannot for the life of me get the cv joint to seat. I have tried for over 4 hours now. Is there something I am missing?

I have tried everything I can think of. I can feel the splines line up when I spin it in the hole and press inward. I have tried a dead blow hammer on the hub bolt. I used a long bolt and tried to pull it together with the bearing hangar. I filed the splines to be sure tey were not distorted. The parts match. but it will not seat. I can see the splines in the trans axle gear and it looks ok. completely stuck.

48 hours later it still will not seat I can not understand why. I have now officially spent more time on one cv joint than I did on the entire engine swap and I still have not succeeded. I have tried everything. I have been defeated by a cv joint.

It was the cv axle bearing hanger. I swapped an engine from an automatic into a car with a manual shift. The bearing hanger on the engine from the automatic had a slightly different angle and would not allow the splines to line up. After I swapped the hanger it slipped right in. Click!
