Talking New guy with a passion for celicas

Hey everyone, new to the forum and just wanted to learn new things from fellow celica enthusiasts
I have a 2000 celica gt that was given to me by my uncle
It has 225k miles which worried me, but it was kept up and always taken care of
Everything is pretty much stock expect for a magnaflow exhaust
But I was wondering if it was worth upgrading since it has high miles

Welcome! well if you are worried about upgrading parts of the engine because of the high mileage just do other mods like wheels and suspension. as long as the engine was maintained well the car should be fine with 225k on it.

Well here's my 2 cents,
I just bought my 2000 GT with 132k, come to find out it use's 3 1/2 quarts of oil every tank of gas. Sooo .. I like this car so much I'm going to keep it anyways. My plans are to do Mod's so i can Autocross it and have fun in the Canyons. I will drop it, do wheels & tires, intake, exhaust and my kid does paint work. I've found low mile engines for $1500 ish.
I don't mind sinking 5k into a car that i want to keep for a long time, that's my plan, so hopefully life will allow that.

The issue isn't the mileage, it is the engine itself. You can swap 1zz's in all **** day, they will still drink oil.

You are correct, No argument. .. I thought the point i was making is, I like the car. Engines are easy to get and their is a Boat load of after market Mods for these cars.
You bring up a good point, I have heard they do drink oil. I think mine is a little excessive and a little out of the norm. But the thing still runs really good and i compare this to a GTS auto with 111k

Im pretty sure only the pre 2003 1zz's drink oil, because in 2003 toyota made some major changes to the cylinder gaskets or something which stopped the issue. Thats what i read when i was looking into buying my celica

I heard this too, but a lot of places will be blurry about the year of the donor so they can offload the drinkers.
