Wide wheels on the celi, how wide to go?

hey guys, i was looking through some threads but i couldnt really find exactly what i wanted to know. im thinking its time to get new wheels for my celi but im stuck on the sizes i want to get 17's or 18's (leaning more twards 18's) by 8.5 or 9.5 with the offset of about 38. the tire profile would have to be 40 or 35 maybe?? there was a subaru wrx with 18x9.5 and they stuck out a lil not much, would my car stand like the subi?
