Default So I'm replacing my stereo system......

First of all, hello, I'm new here. I just bought a blue 2003 Celica GT which I love to death (it's also my first car). I've been doing a few mods to it, such as new interior panels and underglow, and I'd love to replace the stock radio/stereo system with this:

HITACHI HEAD HD 2 DIN Car Stereo DVD Player GPS Navigation Radio PIP Ipod TV+Map | eBay

Or something like it. I know that will fit into the Celica radio cavity, but do I need anything else to make it work with the car, such as conversion/adapter cables or mounts or anything? Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks

Yes you'll need the 2 plastic trim pieces that goes on the sides of the headunit and also if you don't want to cut up your factory wiring, you'll need to pick up an install harness.

You can get most wire harness from Audio shops or your local automotive stores like kragen, auto zone or pep boys for example even best buy has them but expect to pay a lil more.. The one you need is the one for your make model and yr usually says it on the box.. Then you plug that harness to your factory one pretty simple. The instructions tells you what wires go to what. Make sure to unplug your negative off your battery too!!!

Honestly, I would recommend getting a better brand than Hitachi. I'd spend an extra $100ish and get a Pioneer/JVC head unit or something like that. Installing my double DIN took me about 1 hour, pretty simple to do but takes awhile if youre gonna cut the stock wires, which is what I did.

i have a pioneer touch installed and it freezes up so that the touch doesnt work, and ive read a lot of reviews sayin the pioneers all freeze up, if you want the navigation and bluetooth spend the money and get a kenwood

I would buy this system, its made for the Celica, Best buy should be able to help you find a adapter if one is needed. Just dont buy it if its the last one, my b-day is next month and thats what I want my GF to get me....lol....good luck and post pics of the install, your experience will be someone elses help.

Receiver Wire Harness For select 1987-up vehicles at Crutchfield.com

I purchased a harness from Walmart, didnt even come close to fitting, went to autozone, same thing, ended up going to best buy and they got it right the first time, yes the price was a bit higher, but I left the store knowing I had exactly what I needed, swap was a breeze.
