I am thinking about putting led strips under the dash to illuminate the foot wells. what i am thinking though is that i want them to come on when the doors open, the same function as the dome light on "Door" mode. yet i think i would want them wired separately from the dome light itself so i could turn that off completely. would this be easy to do or a wiring nightmare? thanks

ok garrison thats what i was thinking, splicing into the circut for the door trim lights or the dome light, but im wondering how hard that will be to do. can i just access it from the fuse panel on the passenger side? also, if i splice into one of these existing circuts, will i be able to turn the dome light off completely and just have the leds come on when the doors are opened?

I thought about doing this exact mod... but turned into a head ache for me. so i just got a toggle switch and im going to just wire the leds when i get them in...this week probably. i wanted to put lights in my door because my door doesnt have lights. i wanted the lights to come on when i open the door. so i figured i could wire it to the dome light but i have no idea how to even start on that.. so i made a toggle switch just for the footwell lighting. hopefully i can figure something out, im not much of an electrican

Another idea is wiring them to your taillights in your fuse panel. I did this and its super easy to wire, all you do to turn them on is flip your headlights on. Cause there's no point in having them on when its light outside

all good ideas. i think i want them to be off once im in the car though, so i am going to discount the taillight wiring idea. i do like the sound of having them on when the door ajar light is on, but although easily said how easy would it be to find the circuit? is there a place where i can find all of the wiring diagrams in a celica?
