so once i have enough money. i want to do a swap for a gt-s 7th gen. i want a good fast car. well i heard about the 3sgte swap but my thoughts are how much would it cost for the swap for a st205 or 215? and how much to get it up to 500 hp? including tranny swap, clutch, flywheel, ect. can i swap its turbo? and ive seen ppl go up to 9 seconds on the 1/4 mile with 818hp with nos(743w/o nos). like fensport. so im asking what is the price for all of this? [Fensport UK]: Celica GT4 X
on the other hand MWR( MonkeyWrenchRacing) has gotten a 2zzge up to 823hp with out nos. but their 1/4 mile is 11 seconds.Monkeywrench Racing 1st. how is it that with more hp the 2zz ran so much slower than the 3s? 2nd ive ran up a basic range of what i want to do with the MWR celica and have come to around 20,000. of coarse over long a period of time. (just in my lifetime). so recap how much is 3s swap to 500hp with air intake and basic needed mods new turbo ect. so throw up opinions and thoughts here and tell me what you guys think. |

I must emphasize that a RWD and engine swap on a 7th gen is very difficult and costly.
And the tranny you want to use is a transverse setup, so the answer is no.

Every question you asked and swap you proposed implies you are either very very wealthy, a professional mechanic or just a hopeless dreamer.
(Fensport and MWR have near unlimited budgets and employ specialized performance mechanics) (You want to cut up a $80k car to install its parts on a $16k car) If you are wealthy, buy a real Lotus and if you insist on the 7th gen chassis, do a body swap to put a 7th gen on top of a Exige. A professional would be able to answer these questions through existing knowledge or research. If you are not wealthy, don't ask us to research a swap you will never be able to afford. Also, the second question you asked was easily answered by looking up any Lotus and realizing they are almost exclusively MR setups. This means they have FWD tranny's in them with the engine mounted midship meaning you cannot use a Elise/Exige tranny in any RWD car. (I found the answer by looking a Elise/Exige on wiki, which took about a minute) I hate being flamed or flaming others, but it is necessary sometimes.

I have seen these types of radical swaps venture into several hundreds of man hours when pro's are doing all the work, not to even speculate on how long a solitary albeit skilled mechanic might take.
You are talking about a project that requires giving up an entire bay if not an entire garage to house all the parts during the build. Then you or whoever is doing the swap will be spending every waking minute working on this car for months, if not longer. This assumes you have all the custom and OEM components in your possession already and don't have to wait for them to be shipped to you as the need arises. Family or not, people need to go to work so they can eat. They wouldn't be able to do this for free or on the cheap. Even if you did this all on your own, it would takes months to years to complete if you do it all in spare time (before/after work or school) You stated you are doing this swap stretched out over time? Then that estimate of time it will take to do the swap might double or triple when you account for the time it takes to find the rare parts then accumulate the funds then wait for the parts to ship to you. You get into a predicament of needing the funding of a high paying, full time job while needing the free time that comes with a low wage, low hours part time job.

i have done a swap like this ..... you looking at upwards of 20k to get it running and driveable , you will never be able to sell it so your dumping your cash into a black pit if you want 500hp buy somthing like a supra MK3/MK4 or a lexus .....keep the celica as a DD |

I have a civic that is my DD and a 7m swapped into a Celica that is most definitely not a DD. Take it from sc2jz, he has already done it and can tell you firsthand the pain you heading towards.
