Default Buying new struts for 2000 GT please help!

I just joined the forum. Seems to be some really great advice on here. I have been putting a bit of work into my baby 2000 and I want to get decent struts. I'm not sure if I should get aftermarket or aftermarket adjustable, or go with the stock. I believe I should get new springs too. I really like the idea of being able to adjust the ride stiffness, as I like a comfortable ride and like to feel the turns at times as well. Also any recommendations on websites to buy from or brands if you recommend aftermarket? I have 260,000 miles and she's still running well.

I greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Matthew

if you want to get more out of the drive go for an aftermarket one. kyb gr2 is cheap, i think cheaper than oem, but they are very good and go good with some sort of lowering spring. they make adjustable ones too which are the kyb agx's. you can get them on ebay.

Thanks for the response, do you recommend lowered springs at all? And you think the kyb are decent quality compared to oem?

i like lowered springs for the look it gives and for the extra handling it gives. kyb has very good quality over oem. its a very popular brand for its cost and quality. its not the best in the market but they are still good. if you want really good stuff coilovers are the best but are very expensive. tokico is also a good brand too.

I see, so do the lower springs cause a harsher ride at all? I like the sound of this adjustable strut, in combination with the improved handling of lower springs. Think I should do the same with the rear?

kyb only makes grey and orange, i'd really like a black color to go with my dark blue celica. what do you think about monroe?

haha its ok. i do not know what the front struts look like on a 7th gen sorry. 1.4in is a very moderate drop. you'll notice it but you'll have plenty of room left between the tire and fender. i have a 1.5 drop and its barely noticable. its a very good amount where you don't hit curbs or scrape on a driveway.

lowering springs do give a bit of a stiffer ride in my opinion. you'll probably feel the bumps more but its all very tolerable and the thought of the better handling makes it ok lol. i recommend replacing all of the struts if you plan to do the adjustable ones. monroe i've heard are pretty good but not sure if they make adjustable ones. good luck!
