Default cheap and easy mods?

What are some cheap and easy mods I might be able to do to my car to improve performance? And are there any that will improve MPG's?

I have a 2001 GT. I dont know much about cars, but looking to start. Here is a pic of my car!

I have plans for doing a custom paint job, if you would like to see those pics, just let me know!

new intake, exhaust and headers are great mods that are cheap and give some performance

Cold air intake is one of the most common starter mods
Strut braces are pretty cheap and easy
Like ^^^^^ said, exhaust, headers
I'm of a firm belief that getting good tires is one of the most important things you can do to your car
Performance spark plugs and wires

I am going to be repainting the rims with the new paint job. The previous owner scrapped off some paint on the front passenger side, so when it goes in for paint the rims will get touched up too.

here is the sketch/drawing I did of the paint job.

thanks! I will deffinately put some pics up, but the paint job wont be happening for a while...need to come up with the monies first lol.

Anyone know about how much a paint job like this one would cost? I want it done right, so not just the outside shell will be getting painted.
