Have try'd a few things:- Changed the rubber seal around the boot. Sealed and tightened the boot stop light. But so far the water keeps coming in !!! I love my Celica and dont want to get rid of it, but this problem is driving me mad. Can anyone help ? Cheers guys. |

The water getting on your back seats is coming from the trunk seal, I wouold bet your gasket aaround the trunk is worn out and needs replaced. As to the headlamps, if you tried replacing the boots then Id either cook them and reseal them myself or buy new ones.
Good Luck!

the headlight problem is common in the celicas. it requires extensive disassembly and elbow grease on your headlight. Acilec did a repaint on his lights, so he can give yirection if you really want to clean them.
for the leak: try to take you girl to the dealer if she is under warranty, and if not, have the tech find the problem. take it to a trusted body shop, or stay at the dealer if its cheaper/ less hassel.

I have this problem too with my 2000 Celica, water is getting into the well under the back seats, when someone sits on the seat the water seeps to the top and make ur bottom wet.
There is no water in the boot or spare tire hole. I don't know where it is coming from, if lifted up the back seat and saw water in the bottom of the well on the left passenger side, the underneath the right side seat padding was also damp so it appears to be going there too. Where would this water be coming from? It doesn't look like it is dripping from anywhere from the boot door. |

Just a random thought....could the sunroof have anything to do with it? Maybe water leaking in there and traveling back to the stop light?

I've been having problems with water getting into different parts of my car. I've been experimenting over the last two or three weeks to figure out the problem. Water was constantly getting into my truck and making everything wet as well as collecting in the well for the spare tire. Took all the plastic liners and EVERYTHING out of the truck and loosened up the bumper. Put a garden hose on the roof and let water run back down the channels on the sides of the hatchback and eventually found where the problem was. Just a gap in where some metal was overlapping around the taillights and the bumper. JB Welded it and that was fixed, then tested it wth the hose again and found another slow leak that was again due to metal that was overlapping having a gap that allowed water in. Fixed that and as of right now that seems to be solved. Also have had problems with water getting into the backseats. Seems to happen when it rains but didn't happen when I had the hose running water over the car. When I was putting the plastic liner back into the truck I lost a fastner and thought it went under the backseats. So I took out the backseats and found a good two inches of water in the wells under both backseats. The thing I find funny is that there were drain plugs both in the spare tire well and the wells under both back seats. Seems like toyota knows this is a problem if they are installing drain plugs so you can let the water out. Just takes a little time, a hose and some JB Weld and you can keep the water out of your car.
