How do I remove the shift knob on a manual to replace it with an aftermarket one? I see no screws or connection points and the boot covers most of the shift lever.

There should be a silver ring that seperates the actual shifter (stick thingy inside the shift boot) and the shift knob (round thingy you put your hand on to shift). Put one hand on the shifter and one hand on the knob and turn them against each other. The knob screws itself off the top.

Just unscrew it, counterclockwise. If it has never been removed before it might take a little muscle or both hands
