Hey there guys/gals
Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name's Roy and I live in florida. A friend was in the market for a new car and so I was helping him look for one on craigslist and spotted a 95 celica gt for 1200. A women (who looked just like sarah jessica parker but less horse-looking) owned it for 16 years and it's pretty unmolested. Original 2.2L and 5 speed. He ended up getting a 90 integra so I happily bought the celica haha. I talked her down to 950 because it has some body issues (crappy faded paint and two cancer spots) and also 197,xxx is the mileage. Runs like a top and everything works but A/c compressor will need replaced soon as it's making a whiny sound. I'm pretty happy with it so far. It's a blast to drive. I've been driving it as a daily. Replaced thermostat (Easiest thermostat ever to replace!) and right now my brother's working on it at his work giving it a tune up. Bosch wire set, ngk plugs, cap, filters, oil change, odds and ends, and I needed a new battery. I plan to do the body work myself and here in a few months it will most likely be getting new paint. Stock color is the Topaz metallic but I really don't like it so I'll be painting it stock black/silver. Haven't decided. I've always been a volkswagen mk1/mk2 fan but I'm sick of working on them and sick of the uppity vw scene. So thought I'd switch to my other love. Toyotas :-) Anyway, I'll upload some pictures for fun later today or tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Last edited by Hamburger; 01-04-2013 at 02:12 PM. |

The Japanese import scene is just as uppity since it is currently following european trends.
That cancer usually rusts from the inside out so it may be hard to eliminate.

Haha, yeah I guess that's just people in general.
And yeah the rust will have to be cut out and new metal welded in. Won't be fun in one area because of where it is but it'll be worth it to have a clean car. Got the celica back from brother's work tonight. Drove it to my friends 30 minutes away and drove great but when I got there it starting acting like it was misfiring and had a rough idle. Had me worried at first but pulled into gas station and I guess my brother didn't get a wire on the cap good enough so it came off and was arcing onto my cruise control cable lol.. He's gonna hear about that tomorrow. Drove great after that. Thanks for the welcome. Was hoping this site had a little traffic. Couldn't find many other celica forums with good traffic. Let me know if there are other good ones. I'll take some pics tomorrow and upload. Also found one identical to mine at a local junkyard so I might be paying that a visit tomorrow :-) |

So took some pics today. Thought I better snap some before I start doing anything to it haha. This is pretty much what it looked like when I picked it up except I've cleaned the interior to no end. Oh and I fixed a tear in the driver's side seat.

hahaha, yeah it actually came with one. Well... The disintegrated remnants of one anyway.
Soooo, either look for one on ebay or make my own. I kept the old one in case of option b. Was really hoping I'd find one at the junk yard today but someone beat me to it. Did find a headliner though! Only it's from the coupe gt. Do coupes and hatchbacks use the same headliner or different? Really hoping it works, they only want 20 bucks for it and it's minty. |
