speed sensor?

the speed sensor on my 91 GT went out, at least I'm assuming it is the sensor. the speedometer fluttered for a second, then dropped to zero. I just did some transmission work, and the speed sensor is located on the back of the trans. I have found the speed sensor a few different places, but they are all between 180-300. and thats not from the dealer. so my question is this; will the speed sensor from a 92 GT-S work with my GT? what about from a 91 ST? I can get one from a scrapyard for about 40, but there is only one scrapyard near me, and they dont have any GT Celicas. only 2 ST, and one GTS. any help/advice will be much appreciated. Cheers!!
