Hi,
A new guy here to the Celica forums trying to fix a neighbor's '92 Celica GT that doesn't start. Here's the info that I have: the car had been running with no issues, was shut off for two hours and then did not start. It has the 5S-FE, 2.2 liter, 16 valve engine. I verified that there was no spark at the spark plugs. I checked to make sure the timing belt was in the correct position and it was. I did find that there was not 12 volts at the B+ terminal in the diagnostic connector located at the left front strut tower. I checked the EFI fuse and had power on each end of the fuse. I'm not all that familiar with this older Toyota and I can't find any decent wiring diagrams to work with, so I'm at a loss as to where to look next. I'm thinking it's a possibly a bad fuel pump relay but some of the things that I have read, indicate that the distributor is a common thing to go bad. Can anybody shed some light on where to look next? Thanks |

hey i dont think it would be the distributor only because i havent heard of it being a problem. ive had to of these 92 gts and not a problem with that. although it wouldnt hurt to check. id start with the fuel pump relay and then go from there. theres a way to test that but i cant remember how. wish i could be more help....

Your looking in the fuse box by the battery? Go look in the box by your alternator and you cruise control on the passenger side fender. It should be the little skinny black relay. The AM1 and AM2 and like 2 other relays should be there with the fuel pump relay

The box on the right side does have a spot for a fuel pump relay, however there is a factory metal bridge in that spot that connects two wires. The fuel pump relay is either upstream or downstream from where these two wires are bridged together. I'm still wondering if the EFI Main relay or the Engine Main relay in the fuse box by the battery, is the relay for the fuel pump? Does anybody know where I can get a wiring diagram for this car?
Thanks |
