1991 toyota celica st tranny help - Toyota Celicas

Ok so I have a 1991 toyota celica st 1.6 L.
I need a tranny for the car need to know
What trannys will work? I have a guy who
Has a tranny out of a 89 gt 2.2 L and he
Says it will fit. Any help would be appreciated,
I have been looking on the web but can't find much.

I'm pretty sure it won't work. I believe you need c56trans or something (dont really remember the number) which can be out of a corolla or geo that has a 4age or 4afe

So you a tranny out if a 1990 corolla 1.6 should do the job?? Just found one for $250.. And thank you for the reply
