Pop the hood and check your brake fluid reservoir. It's a small, semi-opaque tank with a black rubber cap, about a foot off the firewall in front of the driver. With the cap on, look to see whether the fluid in the reservoir is above the LOW mark. If not, you've got three possible problems. The first is the simplest, but fairly unlikely: someone didn't fill the brake fluid reservoir high enough the last time the brake fluid was changed. Second, much bigger issue is that you have a slow leak in your hydraulic brake system. It would have to be a slow leak or your brakes would be quickly fail. Pump the brakes a lot while parked, then check under the car for leaks. Third and most probable issue: your brake pads need replacing. As the brake pads and shoes wear down, the pistons in the calipers and wheel cylinders need to extend farther to engage. When the friction material is worn enough, the fluid in the reservoir drops below the LOW line and you get a visible warning. This is particularly useful for cars with drum brakes, as unlike disc brakes there are no squeal tabs to audibly warn you that your brakes need attention. So, check your pad/shoe thickness, and replace if necessary.

Fluid level would b the 1st thing... also check ur plug/sensor that hooks up to master cylinder... maybe a bad sensor or bag connection/ wiggle it around see if turns on.... if everything seems fine with level n everything else checks out it might be a bad sensor then.... just disconnect the sensor n drive it :P.... i mean if it bothers u that much to see a light on... if not leave it..
I got my airbag light on.. n no bothers @ all.. cause of ma NRG setp up

I had this problem a year ago. I checked everything everyone else has posted about (above) and it didn't help the issue. FOr me it ended up being one of my e-brake cables had broken.
Apparently (at least on the gt-s model as explained to me by a mechanic) there are 3 pieces to it. one that splits into 2 ex. ---<====. One of rear pieces of the cable broke, leaving the other two intact. Because it wasn't fully broken, it still worked well enough that i didn't notice anything wrong with it, yet it caused my e-brake light to come on and off while driving. Again, like everyone else has stated, check the obvious things first, but if the problem still persists, you might want to take a look at the cables. Hope this helps. |

Its already been said but I had this same thing last week. I had done my breaks and didn't put the cap on the reservoir right so the light would turn on and off. Put it on right and ta da light went away. Its a version of toyotas check your brakes. Do a search on this forum and you will find plenty of info on this, thats what I did last week.
