I've been hearing and reading alot of people are buying complete running 5th gens for around $500-$700. So, would that make parts cheaper?
Anyway, I really want to do a manual swap on my 91 GT. Auto is just too boring, and uses alot more gas. ALOT MORE. My questions are: Will any 5SFE transmission fit, such as the year, and make of car it was in? How much will it run me for a complete swap? |

I would stay with a 5sfe trans for 5th gen. i'm sure older or newer ones will work but just to be safe go for your year. the swap will cost probably around at least $1000 or more depending on how much you get the trans and components for and labor. Personally I would just buy a 5 speed celica or just wait, save your money and buy a much better car. good luck!

lol yea that was exactly what i was planning to do to mine. Some people have told me keeping your first car just ends up being a money pit but its your first car so its hard to see it go. If you are planning on keeping it for a long time then the swap may be worth it for you. It comes to a point where you spent way over the value of the car so you might as well just keep going. save up the money for now and maybe even learn how to swap it yourself. It'll be a fun project.
