The OEM tranny dip stick has two sets of notches on it; one for hot and one for cold. If you check it hot it can be running or right after you shut it off. Which ever way you do it be sure the car is level and in park. The hot notches are higher up the stick, the cool notches are closer to the bottom end.

its suppose the be running and in neutral or park. dont take chances with an auto tranny, wrong fluid level kills them.
never overfill !! and get a good quality tranny fluid, dexron vi is expensive , but you will notice a difference in shifting. and apparently it helps the seals not dry out, and keeps tranny cooler ( an experienced auto tranny rebuilder told be ). |
