Lube all ur hardware & small plates around the Brake pads... that should take care off problem.. a lot of brake shops used that grey bottle grease.. i used it before n it works.. not an Excessive amount doh,
that should take care of squeak, any movable part on just lube a bit, the bolts as well the ones that hold caliper in place

^what 91GT said. also, clean the plates and shims off first with a wire brush or sand paper to make for the smoothest movement. If you do have a sticking caliper, the worst that could happen is it could permanently freeze and you would have no front passenger brake since it wouldn't be making contact with the rotor. you'd still be able to stop , but it wouldn't be nice and would cake the rotor with rust from no contact. If you do it yourself, i would just say take it slow, no rush. It's easy stuff, just take it one step at a time, make sure the bolts aren't frozen when you go to remove them so you don't have to drill and tap a broken bolt. But it's mostly straight forward, and i think you'll be just fine

bearing ...just put tire back on n see if there's movement up down & side to side if u notice too much movement or play.. I'd say replace it!!! while ur @ time.. once ur bearing goes out u might experience grinding n worse case loose wheel on street.. but any ways its a bith to press bearing out if it FK UP frozen to bad($$$).. i've done a few in the past were i've sent people to the junk yard to get a used one.. sometimes there that bad that the bearings mess the groove bad enough to the point u don't feel comfortable cause it didn't fit tight enough..
DDAAAMMMM i miss wrenching & getting dirty hahahaha

Take it apart and make sure its all in proper order, replace all hardware if it wasnt done in july also check the dust shield/mounting plate, if its bent a bit it will squeak like that too ,after I did my drum to disc conversion I had the same problem on my 1st drive till I took it all apart and straightened the shield out, doesnt take much to bend one.

i have grooved brake disc too and i noticed that there is a constant squeal when the car moves. so i would vote brake disc too, the pads seem new so you could keep them, they will set in on the new discs in time.
dont forget to clean and grease the caliper pins with a QUALITY grease. when done. you drink a beer and enjoy your new brakes. while you're there, you can also sand the calipers and paint them, looks a lot better. |
