Ok so I went to go in for a smog and didn't pass $%%K !!!! N Sh=%!!!
So they wanted to charge me 1000 bucks to change catalytic converter and o2 sensors that were running lazy.. I lol and went on my way driving it the way it was... But now it times to get down to business!! I just don't know whats the best cost wise. I think I can get it to pass smog Wink Wink if you know what I mean. Wink Wink ![]() Whats my best bet should I just go headers and straight pipe this beast with 2.25 - 2.5 Or just get a new cat ? cheapest Ive found cat for was about $330 and im sure im probably gonna have to replace the second cat too. Trying to keep it under 500 -600 bucks fyi.. Car is sitting in my garage as of now working on taking out the manifold and cat....... Appreciate if I could get some suggestions ..

all depends on what you want. your in cali so you have to take into consideration of what is legal in your area. if you live in the galt area check out vendetta performance, talk to marco or johnny, tell them subspec sent you and im sure they will hook you up.

if you want really crappy fuel mileage then straight pipe it. the valve overlap will suck the air fuel mixture right out. you want at least a half psi of back pressure. think about it though. get it illegally snogged for 5 years (assuming each smog is 200 bucks) And you'll just come out to the same price. just thinking long term here.

if you change the headers with non smog legal headers then you definitely won't pass. they need to be carb legal and those are expensive. you need to get a carb legal cat and replace it with the one you have. you can get a universal one and just have a muffler shop weld it on. or you can also try cleaning it although that doesn't work that well.

200+ every 2 years for smog, thats alright i guess or just buy a cat n ship it to somewhere else in another state, a friend family or something n have them ship it to cali : ).. then just have it bolt on ur celi everytime u do a smog ; D , that way u can go straight pipe.. n also ur Celi should definitely pass smog when ever it need to cause ur just going to have the cat on the day that it needs the Smog... just make sure u don't miss place the cat while ur next smog comes around... unlike some people lol : P
