Default Plastic fitting next to coolant temp sensor

Excuse my lack of technical terms....following the large hose from the top of the radiator back into the engine, there appears to be a couple of sensors, i'm assuming coolant temperature sensors. Right next to these senors is a plastic fitting with two small rubber lines (look like to vacuum lines.) Both "nipples" are broke off on my 92 Celica and the 2 rubber lines are just dangling. Does anyone know what these two lines are for? Does anyone know the name of the plastic fitting piece? Any feedback is appreciated.

'plastic fitting piece' is TVV. Basically it is a bi-metal vacuum switching valve (BVSV) that sends fuel vapor from the tank to the charcoal canister to one of the vacuum lines and (when it becomes excessive AND engine temp. is above 95 degrees F) out the other vacuum line to port F of the intake manifold. All that to say it is part of the evaporative emission control system and doesn't do a whole lot! I would purchase a small vacuum hose connector (any parts store) and put the two vacuum lines together bypassing the TVV completely! HTH.

Good link. This is the way I fix them but I usually use a piece of an old antenna mast for the tubing. Have lots of those laying around and the naturally come in 4 different sized (read too cheap to go buy new one!).
