Default Could use a bit of help

Hi, I'll start this by saying i know nothing. the end, kidding, anyway i'm here to try and get answers on this topic of mine Celica's and ill keep this easy and simple. i plan on buying a 5th gen and turning it into a tuner. funny part is i know nothing about this.i myself tried and failed of course to look for threads about this. but i'll get to the point and start off with the most basic questions.

1)what is the best engine for the 5th gen?
2)what is a best exhaust for the 5th gen?
3)brakes
4)tires

ect
please help me out i plan on pursuing this and could really use your help and keep in mind its for tuning and not for cruising.

best brakes would be a dot 5 system because the fluid has a rediculous high boiling point, and as for brake pads ive always gone with monroe, they grip really well (holding a 6k lb truck at some absurdly steep inclines) and get some drilled and slotted rotors (only downside to them is they are one time use, i dont know of a machine that can grind that style down

in terms of for engine... ive got no clue about gas stuff, but im sure other people know more

well i tryed doing some research on all the engines for the 5t gen and only found 4 or 5 i think one was the "3sgte" and don't ask if i know what that means all i know is that engine could have or comes with a turbo but let me recheck the engines for 5th gen

here it is was on yahoo answers dont know how relyable it is but heres the post

"
They used 4 possible engines depending on the configuration of the options of the car.
1. 3SGTE --- turbo altrac model
2. 3SGE --- GTS model
3. 3SFE --- GT model
4. 4/7AFE --- ST model

The most popular and readily available are the 3SFE and the 4/7AFE because the are used in the Camry and the Corolla respectively.

if you get the gt or gt-s model and want to engine swap buy the 3sgte engine. its the best bang for your buck for price and power. there's a ton more info on this i really don't want to type all of it but feel free to ask questions. if you really want to get into tuning a 5th gen try and buy an all trac. exhaust if you are serious about getting the swap done wait till you do that. either way you'll just have to get a custom catback made. brakes go for some drilled slotted rotors and if it has drum brakes in the rear convert that over using the rear discs from a celica that does. if you get a st model you can swap that out with either a 4age silver or black top or a 4agze. good luck

all trac is the better one to get. it is much harder to find though. its awd with the 3sgte engine in it. if you cant get one the gt-s and the gt would be your next best option. both have the same 5sfe engine. only difference is a few things like wider fenders. st which is the base model 5th gen is the slowest with the 4afe engine giving it about 100 hp.

Umm i read on a thread that drilled rotors arent worth it cuz they break faster so stick to sloted they are more affective

@ HUARACHES- drill rotors work & they only break cause people think they have FORMULA ONE brake system or something hahahhaha n abuse them soooo bad or mostly they're cheapies ; P..
best bet would be slotted/drill rotors & yes they can b resurface... i've done it in the past i've resurface drilled as well as slotted rotors
