Question Please help! radio antenna issues..

Hey guys!

I recently fitted a new headunit in my celica (PHILIPS CED1700) and now the antenna wont go up when i turn the car on doesnt anybody have any ideas what could be wrong with it? maybe i've wired it wrong or something, i'm not too sure :S

The radio should have a power antenna wire, it will either be blue, or blue w/ white chaser.

Did you hook the antenna wire up to either of those?

Hooooly crap your antenna still goes up and down? lucky lol

I would guess you forgot to connect the antenna to your new head unit

Mine still does too just that the antena gets stuck sometimes like 1-3 inches before fully closing and makes a weird lil struggle noise.

Yeah it's a blue wire, but I'm not to sure if i have connected it to the right wire at the car..

Would anyone have an idea which wire from the celica i should connect to the blue wire of the headunit? Like which coloured wires operate the antenna an such?

Hey biggie, what year model. Looks like Black w/ Red tracer from head unit to 'ANT' and Pink w/ Blue tracer to 'AMP'. HTH.

pull the antenna out of the car and take it apart. below the part that comes out of the car it is plastic or nylon with teeth that link up with the motor to raise and lower. That part usually breaks inside the motor housing. You can get a replacement antenna element either in the jy or on ebay for not too much $ if the motor still rotates OK. To replace it hook it back up to the car and pull the old antenna out after it is raised,note the position/direction of the teeth and feed the new one back in as it goes to lower it.
