Today i became the proud owner of my first Celica!
Its a '92 GT. I got it for $550. Its only had two owners. I dont know the whole history of this car but It has 217k miles. Both the transmission and Engine seem to still be running strong. I had no problem going from 1st to 5th gear during my drive today as the clutch seemed to worked like a champ. They must Have taken good care of it.The Interior looked Phenomenal given that its a 20+ year old car. All the electronics work, Cruise control, radio, windows..etc The body does have a couple of rust spots but nothing i dont think can be taken care with some body work. The tires do look like they are wearing thin. Anyway I bought it hopes of restoring it slowly but surely. I seek some advice on where to start. Body, Interior...etc? IM NOT REALLY PLANNING ON MAKING THIS INTO A PERFORMANCE CAR... I was thinking of first replacing the tires since they seems to be wearing out.. At the moment I only have $500 to drop on it. What do you guys think? Thanks! |

if you want you might be able to find some new rims with used tires on them for the same price as 4 brand new tires. Do all the things to make the car run better like maintenance and tires first. if you really want to save money you can hold off on tires till they're bald just make sure to drive safe lol

I'm at about the same place as you! Got a 92 GT with 200k or so and looking to fix her up. I plan to do my suspension first then engine/tranny/drivtrain with exterior being the last on my list. I don't care much about having a fancy or nice interior so that probably wont ever be upgraded or have much work done in it
Good luck! and they're super fun cars to drive
