Default Are 90~91 and 92~93 Distributors interchangeable

Does anyone know for sure if the 5th gen Celica 2.2 distributors and coils are all interchangeable. I seem to be able to find plenty of Distributors and coils for 92~95 2.2 liter engines including the gen 5 Celica But 1990~91 I can't seem to find as often. Both groups are gen 5 and have the same motor designation. To me it seems like they would be interchangable. Any thoughts?

I believe so as long as it comes from the same engine, not the 1.6L from the ST or the 2.0 Turbo from the All-Trac.

Thanks. Yep they're both 5S-FE engines but I thought the 92 and 93 bumped an extra 5 horses from it Maybe I'm wrong but I think it will work.

The reason the 92-93 has a bit more power, is because it's the 2nd gen 5SFE. Where as the 90-91 had the 1st gen 5SFE( or respectfully. Revision 1 and 2 )

No they are not interchangeable, reasoning is because the first revision has a external coil, second has a internal coil, from my understanding they are exactly the same. Same hp numbers. the second revision is whats known as a thick block. Also they deleted the cold start injector,

I also have to say people stop talking out your ass, if you dont know then say you dont know or simply dont reply. I have personally worked on 91 92 93 celica and a 92 mr2 all 5sfe, its because of you that people are misinformed about there cars. And why during my 10+ years of research ive had to weed out all the bullshit. Give precise direct answers.

yup i agree with Subspec... they are not interchangeable the later on models are Bulkier/Fatter than the previous 90-91..... u hardly find 91 Dizzys in the Junk yard only 92-93 Dizzys which is a no fit for 90-91... ur better of getting a new reman, but i would not suggest that since i went thru 5 REMAN DIZZYS, & @ the end i Bought a NEW 1, which worked Best, they don't rebuilt stuff like they used to back then....lazy ASS

Ya I remember 91GT has problem with the distributor on his old post because of the 90-91 and 92-93 not having compatible dizzy.
