Hi, just purchased a 1992 Celica GT 5speed and had a few questions about it.
It didn't come with a CD player and I was wondering if anyone would know which color wire corresponds with what. and also seems to be a few extra wires, wondering what they are for? the wires in the car are: Blue/yellow Grey Brown Black/red Purple Pink Blue Light Green Yellow Black White Red Pink/blue White/black or dark green hard to tell. The car needs a power steering pump. How hard is this to instal? and last, the previous owner says he put a MR2 head and intake on this car. is this possible? The engine seems to make a lot of vibrations and he says this is caused by that. Thanks! |

welcome! there's a few threads already about the wires so feel free to search them. or use install doctor. there should be a diagram for the color wires. power steering pump shouldn't be to hard to install. mr2 also has a 5sfe so the parts should be the same. if the engine is vibrating a lot you might need new engine mounts.

the question you ask is variable about the wires. all depends on the deck/harness you get. is your stock wire harness cut? it is possible to put a mr2 head on a celica. but the question is what head. 5s head or 3s head. but vibration as stated above could be afew things. like motor mounts.

The stock harness has been cut, so I've set up a "quick connect" so I'm not taping or nutting the wires 45 times each t figure out where they go. I can't even get the CD player to turn on. It's a cheap one from wal-mart. I think the brand is Dual or something. but the wire harness for that is like everyone I've ever dealt with. Yellow,Black, redblue, then green purple grey and white for speakers.
No idea what head, don't know if he knows. however I'd think he must if he put it on. Thanks. |

Thanks,
Any idea where the white/black or dark green goes and also there is another green wire that isn't hooking up to anything. Sorry I'm a complete noob when it comes to foreign car wiring. I can do a chevy without too much trouble. but these Japanese cars make no sense to me with their wire colorings. |

SO yeah, I hooked everything up acording to that diagram, have 1 solid green wire and one white with green stripe wire left not hooked into anything. CD player will take a CD and eject it but not play or light up at all.

The MR2 head and intake are the same other than the orientation may be different. The Celica and MR2 both came with the same engine in the year. The MR2 could possible have a different engine but that should cause a shaky vibration unless he messed something up during install and cause a misfire.
