i have a 91 celica gt, and when i start my car and drive it wont shift into overdrive for the first 3 or 4 minutes untill it warms up, could this be a sensor on the tranny, or something else. if you could help that would be great

When's the last time you changed your tranmission oil? Could be time for a change.

i just did a flush about 8 months ago, im pretty sure its the sensor that tells the car what gear it is in, but am not completely sure. it works perfect in the summer, but when it gets cold out, it wont shift into overdrive untill she warms up a bit..

I just checked the FSM and it states that the transmission will not shift into Overdrive until the engine reaches 127 degrees. My car is doing the same thing. I will just have to let it warm up before driving it.

yes, thats a common feature on most cars. My SVX also would not shift in 4th gear until 140 degrees. Circulates tranmission fluid better, heats it up faster, protects vital components, all that good stuff
