alternator probably couldn't produce enough voltage to provide enough voltage to keep the battery fully charged and fire your ignition coil 41 times a second

The oil light comes on too but my car doesn't die. Would a stronger alternator fix this?

possible, or your really not getting the oil pressure you need at the high of an rpm...

what year is your engine and how many miles?

Its a 3sfe from an 87 gt in an 86 gt. Mileage unknown but the only problem I've had is the ignition coil went out about 10000 miles ago and I replaced it along with the cap and rotor. No leaks or anything

well I'd do an oil change and get an oil pressure, ammeter and voltmeter gauge and and see what your charging voltage and amps are. and observe oil pressure. could also throw an ect gauge in there too.

the cost of the gauges will still be cheaper than going to a shop and having them observe. plus if you install gauges in your vehicle you can have peace if mind swing what your car is actually putting out instead of the idiot lights.

for some reason the problem seems to be getting worse. now the battery light comes on at about 3500 rpms but no oil light. could my stereo system have anything to do with this. im using a 1600 watt amp on two subs. is there a way to upgrade my alternator
