Default '87 - where is air temp sensor?

I inherited a great 87 GT-S when my husband passed away 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I don't drive it much during summer months because it sometimes won't start after I've run several errands. When I wait several hours it starts up like a champ. Because I don't have confidence it will get me home, it sits most of the summer plugged into a battery tender. I just learned that it is possible to disconnect the air temperature sensor and go into "limp home" mode when this happens. At least I wouldn't be stuck in 100-degree heat -- sounds like a good solution for now! I don't know what the air temp sensor looks like or where to find it and would greatly appreciate help. I'm obviously very unfamiliar with the engine so a very basic description or diagram would be wonderful.

So glad to have found this forum -- I've already learned a lot!

I think you mean the water temp sender?
Show us the motor and let's fix it properly

Here's the senders - my guess is the green one is faulty
Disconnecting the the water temp sender will only kill the gauge and not affect starting
