Toyota Motorsports has just debuted its new GT86 based race car, engineered for entry-level German track racing that they say can be adapted for international sales.
The TMG GT86 CS-V3 is aimed at privateer racers competing in the V3 class of the VLN racing series. With a price of of €38,500 (about $47,760) before taxes, this is meant to an affordable and easy to maintain racecar. While the drivetrain setup remains virtually stock, at 200hp, other key changes have been made. The interior has been stripped-out and a roll-cage has been added. In addition to the chassis stiffening provided by the roll cage there are braces, uprated suspension and brakes. A racing exahust system is also part of the package.
