Exclamation 03 celica gt with injen sputtering?

I'm sure this has happened to the best of us but anyways.... I have a 03 celica gt with cold air intake and some mods....I was driving on the freeway and taking a conjunction ramp there was a car ahead of me and the lanes where merging into one so I was in fifth ready to down shift in fourth ( mind you I was going almost eighty) I accidental downshifted to second and it redlined and shifted back up. The whole way home no issues until i put it in neutral it started making a puttering noise like putt putt putt putt and sounded like it was just ready to shut off any moment. I decided to let it cool and turn it back on in the morning... It was perfectly fine except now the engine light was on, drove around put it in neutral the noise came back only it seemed worse .....any one have any idea what could have happened???
