Hey guys I have a 92 celica Gt automatic. I recently unscrewed the two screws on the automatic shift lever thinking it would just slide off, I realized it doesnt come off that easy. I was changing out the rubber shift boot/bezel thing. Which I managed to get on. My problem now is that when I try to put the two screws back in the shift lever the button on the shift lever gets stuck, won't allow me to push it in at all. which in turn makes it so i can't take the keys out of the ignition. I've currently been driving without those screws in for about a month now, but its starting to get annoying. does anybody know the trick to getting these PITA screws back in? I've never messed with an automatic shift lever before, and after this i probably never will lol

Hmmm, look up how to replace the button and it should give you an internals diagram.
