Question RA64 problem

Hey guys new here,
i got my self a 83 celica gt with a 22re
just lately the motor at 3 grand just stops gaining power and sounds like the limiter.
i thought it was my fuel filter so i changed it but nothing..
idk what it is but it really bugging me having no power and lately my idle is now going up and down from like 800 900 800 900 800...etc
sh!ts hitting the fan.

Edit: like to add that the 3 grand thing only happens 95% of the time...rarely itll go past it and be fine but then right after its back again

The high idle might be a vacuum leak, they drown those engines in vacuum lines.

Did the same to me, except it was a clogged cat and low on gas, my injection pressure damper was leaking and the low volume of fuel at the pump caused my pressure to dip.

In short, either too much backpressure or not enough fuel or both

i checked my cat it was good, the problem was there was a small cone screen thing right before fuel pump so i took it out and it was packed full of like a clay like substance.
now it runs like a dream!
but it idles a lil off still like 50rpms between 800 and 900

Keep the idle there, unless it really bothers you, let the old dog idle high
